Contestant Clothing
Requirements |
| |
|
PLEASE READ
CAREFULLY -- CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS HAVE CHANGED.
Contestants in
skill contests do not have to purchase the uniform as stated in the
SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards. However, they must follow all
safety guidelines for their specific competition. Contestants wearing
unsafe clothing (including shoes) will be disqualified.
▪ No jeans/pants or shirts with holes.
▪ All shirts and jeans/pants must cover the student. No bare midriffs.
▪ No school name on the shirts. (If
your school or name is on the shirt you will
be expected to cover it with tape or turn it inside out.)
See contests below for more information regarding proper dress. |

Resume |
| |
|
A resume will be
required of every Career Preparation & College contestant.
(Except Action Skills and Team Problem Solving.)
Resume Lesson Plan (PDF)
EVERY CONTEST COMMITTEE WILL COLLECT RESUMES and
points will be deducted for no resume.
(The resume will
be used as part of the Professional Development Program section of the
contest. The SkillsUSA Knowledge Test will still be given as a
tie-breaker. Many of the contests will have a station for an interview of
contestants, others will merely collect the resume this year. A
maximum of 5 points will be awarded for the PDP section of the contest.
If your students’ contest does not have an interview station, but only
collects the resume, there will be 5 points available for a go/no go
station.) |

Standards (2008) for the Skills USA

three years. This year's National contests are based on the new
edition.

These rules and regulations are reviewed and published each year. |

Leadership Contest
Attendance or Withdrawal Requirement |
| |
|
In order to
decrease the number of "no show" students in leadership contests the
following new policy will apply:
If a student is registered for both a leadership contest and a skill
contest,
failure to attend the leadership contest will
result in a 10% point of the contestants skill contest score.
In order to avoid the 10% point deduction,
please do one of the following:
A. Withdraw the student by Friday, April 18 from the contest by
contacting Dee Bjelke at 602.542.3290 or
dee.bjelke@azed.gov.
B. Notifying the SkillsUSA office by Friday, April 18 of a
substitute by contacting Dee Bjelke at 602.542.3290 or
dee.bjelke@azed.gov.
|
| This policy
is a result of a large number of "no show" students in several
leadership contests. We are happy to provide judges for contests,
but a high "no show" amount simply wastes the valuable time of our
judges. |

The
